    Choral singing is a popular pastime in Sweden, and one occasion when nearly every choral singer in the country lets rip is the evening of 30th April, known as Walpurgis Night or, more strictly as Walburga´s Eve (Valborgsmässoafton) being the eve of the feast of Walburga, which comes on 1st May.

    The Archipelago Fair

    The Archipelago Fair in The Royal Djurgården is since 1989 one of the most appreciated events in Stockholm with more than 50 000 visitors. It is an exhibition of the Swedish Archipelago, but also tourism in the countries around the whole Baltic Sea. The fair is also a meeting point for cooperation between countries in the Baltic region about culture, industrial life and trade.

    Sweden Rock Festival is an annual rock/metal festival held in Sweden since 6 June 1992. While having a clear rock/metal focus, the festival is noted for its diversity across these genres, having featured southern rock bands such as Molly Hatchet to death metal legends like Obituary. 90 acts are booked for 2015!

    National Day

    Sweden has not taken part in any of the wars of the modern era, which may explain the Swedes’ somewhat guarded attitude towards celebrating a national day. They are proud of their country but don’t seem to feel any great need to show it. Previously, 6 June was not a public holiday, and for many people the only sign that this was a special occasion was the decoration of buses with Swedish flags.

  • Bergman week 22 June 2015 - 28 June 2015
    Bergman week

    The Bergman week is a six-day celebration of Ingmar Bergman’s art, with films, guests, seminars and tours to film locations on Fårö, Gotland. As usual, there will be a mix of Swedish and international guests, and offer films, performances, lectures, concerts and the traditional Bergman Safari. The program is both for English and Swedish-speakers.
