    Liljevalchs Spring Salon will move downtown in 2016, and for the first time, components of the exhibition will be placed outdoors to become part of the Urban Escape Stockholm initiative which is an idea-driven concept with innovation, knowledge and creativity in focus. The Spring Salon is a judged exhibition for both established and emerging artists and will include visual art, photography and sculptures occupying two floors and an outdoor terrace.

    Stockholm Art Week include fairs, exhibitions and art events all held during one week. The art and photography fairs - Market Art Fair, Supermarket, PhotoMarket and Stockholm Art Book Fair is a part of Stockholm Art Week. Many of the city’s museums, institutions and art exhibition venues will arrange special programmes and art openings.     The arrival of spring has been celebrated at Skansen since 1894. It is celebrated with singing, speeches and late night fires.

    Choral singing is a popular pastime in Sweden, and one occasion when nearly every choral singer in the country lets rip is the evening of 30th April, known as Walpurgis Night or, more strictly as Walburga´s Eve (Valborgsmässoafton) being the eve of the feast of Walburga, which comes on 1st May.

    Sweden has not taken part in any of the wars of the modern era, which may explain the Swedes’ somewhat guarded attitude towards celebrating a national day. They are proud of their country but don’t seem to feel any great need to show it. Previously, 6 June was not a public holiday, and for many people the only sign that this was a special occasion was the decoration of buses with Swedish flags.

    Vätternrundan (pronounced vet-turn-rund-an) is the largest recreational bicycle ride in the world. The 300 km course follows the shoreline of the beautiful Lake Vättern and early starters can see the sun set and rise over the lake during the ride.
