Älgens Hus
A visit to Älgens hus (the Elk House) is a charming, learning and unique experience. Unfortunately the elk is not the glamorous stuff of Discovery Channel and it is perhaps best known in Sweden for its appearance on road signs warning you not to hit one. You’ll find out why if you visit the Elk House and see one of these gentle, but very large beasts. The museum here shows films and pictures of elks, giant antlers, as well as rock carvings and other interesting subjects. You can learn about its habitat, what it eats and how it lives in the forest and plains of Sweden. The star attraction though is the elks themselves. You can meet elk calves and adult animals up close in an enclosure and get to know these lovely animals better. For children this is an absolutely unforgettable experience.
