Where to go shopping in Malmö
The main shopping area runs from Stortorget and Lilla Torg, through Södergatan, across Gustav Adolf’s Torg and continues south along Södra Förstadsgatan.
Start your shopping trip at Lilla Torg; this small square is filled with restaurants, cafés and eateries, some of the more than 300 in Malmö. You will also find the Form/Design centre here, with its shop selling the best of Scandinavian design. While on the subject of design, Malmö is also home to Olsson & Gerthel furnishings, Norrgavel, which sells Swedish-designed furniture and fittings, as well as David Design; with its own home furnishings design collection, as well as international design.
Of course, all the big name Swedish retailers are here; including H&M, but you should look out for Kitsch and Meloa for home furnishings, bags and shoes at Begär and retro and designer clothes at Tjallamalla. While here check out the Uma Bazaar concept store which sells fabulous quality organic and fair trade clothing for men, women and children at Per Weijersgatan. Other organic/fair trade/ecological producers and stores include; Fiber fin, Helles Textil, Ingrid af maglehem and Blingo.
Round off your shopping trip to Malmö by visiting Möllevången – an area packed with smaller shops and eateries offering international cuisine.
The area around Möllevångstorget square is a multicultural gastronomic scene, unequalled in Northern Europe. There are restaurants, delis and fast food outlets from virtually all around the culinary world, most of these very moderately priced.
