A beach in the centre of town? In Sweden? In Malmö there is. It's called Ribersborg beach - a 2 kilometre long stretch of sandy beach that was reclaimed from the sea and built in the 1920s. So you can stroll through one or more of the parks that wrap around the Stadium district, amble towards the coast, and then go beachcombing at Ribersborg.

The parks of Malmö and the canals that wend their way around the older parts of town really add to the 'Malmö experience' and are oases of peace and calm away from the many more man-made pleasure of Malmö. One such oasis is Kungsparken, which is great for walks, with flower beds, decorative ponds and shaded areas. Nearby Slottsparken is somewhat wilder and more expansive with large wooded areas, ponds and lawns that are popular with picnickers. We should mention that all Malmö's parks are within walking distance of each other.The largest green space in Malmö is Pildammsparken.
