Nocturnal Malmö
Malmö comes into its own as the centre of nightlife in the Skåne region in the “wee, small hours”. The city rocks 7 nights a week, particularly in summertime, with bars, clubs, live music of every hue and restaurant cocktail lounges that turn into nightclubs and are open until 3 a.m.
Lilla Torg is the pulse of Malmö as the sun goes down and the city’s nightlife dances to its beat. Nightclubbers and party-lovers flock here for its restaurants, nightclubs, live music and bars. Summertime, the square goes al fresco and is a fabulous place to be. One of the clubs here is Bodoni, which is wildly popular and attracts radically different crowds depending on the night of the week.
Being a compact city, Malmö is easy to get around so you can hit several spots in one night. You could start the evening at Big Bowl on Östra Förstadsgatan, an all-in-one bowling hall, restaurant and nightclub, then splash some cash at Casino Cosmopol, situated in one of Malmö’s most beautiful buildings. Then bring the evening (or morning) to a close in sweet fashion at Chokladfabriken (Chocolate Factory), as its name strongly suggests, a former chocolate factory which is now a club.
For live rock music try Kulturbolaget on Bergsgatan, for three floors of sweaty dancing try Slakthuset behind Central Station, Scandinavia’s largest nightclub apparently. If you prefer a quieter night out and love jazz then you should pay a visit to Jeriko on Spångatan for live jazz and world music.
Nocturnal Malmö has entertainment to suit every taste. Why not give it a try?
