The Malmöfestivalen

For pop, rock and all other genres of contemporary music, Malmö is a lively and exciting scene. Classic KB and recently opened Debaser are two first-rate permanent clubs for local, Swedish and international bands, and there are also many nightclubs and bars that stage concerts and performances with hot acts in various contemporary musical styles.

Malmö is a widely acclaimed summer city, and the cultural array is especially rich and generous during the summer months. The Malmöfestivalen festival in late August is primarily a music fest – an 8-day mega-event with a vast variety of performances and entertainment, Swedish and international, on no less than twenty stages, all free of charge. In recent years the festival has been expanded to encompass the entire summer season in the ”Summer Scene” programme, with a plethora of performances – music, theatre, comedy, shows, circus and much more – on a large number of stages, most of them outdoors in the city´s lush parks and green areas.
