Naked (optional) in Malmö

Where else in the world can you have views of the weird and wonderful Turning Torso building on your right and Denmark on your left? Sitting in one of the saunas at Ribergsborg Kallbadhus - of course. This is just one of the many very good reasons you should come here when visiting Malmö.

The Ribersborg Kallbadhus is a unisex swimming facility built in 1898. The entire, beautiful wood structure perches at the end of a pier proudly jutting out into the Sound, or Öresund. The male and female sections are separate and each has two saunas: one wood-fired, the other steam. For the ladies there is also a solarium and massage facility. Ribergsborg Kallbadhus also has a charming 1900s-style café offering local delicacies and seating for up to 100 people.

And the bit about 'naked' in the headline? You can bathe in your birthday suit in the brisk waters of Öresund if you really want to. Hey, we're in Sweden, no-one's going to notice. Ribersborg Kallbadhus is open the year-round and yes, there are really are people who dig a hole in the ice and go for a dip in winter.

During the summer there is evening entertainment with renowned musical artists and stand-up comedians. If you want to pamper yourself Scandinavian-style you'll come out of the steaming sauna and hop straight into the Öresund.

This institution, for those who live in Malmö, is part of the fabric of the place. This is where they come for a swim, to discuss politics, to relax and to, well, simply be together. You should come here for a taste of the real Malmö. There aren't many places like Ribersborg Kallbadhus left in the world.
