Pleasures and fun with no age limit
Travelling with the family, regardless of its size and the age of the children, is always convenient and enjoyable in Sweden. All major hotels, campsites, restaurants, museums, transportation, sites and attractions well suited to visitors of all ages. There is also a wealth of attractive destinations for visitors travelling with children all around Sweden, and in Central Sweden in particular. The space available here allows us to name but a few of the most popular of these.
The Furuvik amusement park near the town of Gävle features a zoo boasting some 73 different animal species, a circus and a large number of exciting rides and attractions for children of various ages, as well as restaurants and cafés, pools and and a beach, all located in an pleasant and attractive seafront parkscape with adjacent campgrounds. Furuvik is a popular attraction throughout summer, when a variety of events and live performances are staged here, and also in winter, with a popular Christmas market.
For a somewhat wilder wildlife experience, why not explore the Bear Park in Grönklitt in Dalarna, the largest of its kind in Europe. Here you can meet our four Swedish large predators – bear, wolf, lynx and wolverine – roaming free in their natural environment. The park´s clever system of parkways and walking ramps allows very close – but safe! – encounters with the animals, without disturbing them in their natural habitats.
Another of many zoos and amusements parks around the region is the Parken Zoo in the town of Eskilstuna, one of Sweden´s most popular attractions of all categories, with a large array of exciting rides and amusements, including an exciting adventure pool. The zoo is famous for unique and exotic animals, including white tigers, Asian lions, leopards and the Komodo dragon, the world´s largest reptile.
The selection of waterparks and adventure pools is even more extensive and impressive – nearly every major city has an aquatic attraction nearby. The Gustavsvik indoor adventure pool in Örebro is another of Sweden´s most popular attractions of all categories – a fantastic jungle-like environment with Europe´s longest whitewater slide and a plethora of lagoons, tunnels, water sculptures and water games, as well as an aquarium lagoon with sharks and tropical fish. There is also an outdoor pool park and a fishing lake, as well as a five-star camping ground. The Sunne Water World in Värmland is Sweden´s largest and most attractive outdoor adventure pool, with a large number of wild and radical rides for kids and grownups of all ages, and a large and friendly aquatic amusement park for the younger children.
