Faces of Scandinavia Online Campaign

NEW YORK, April, 2011 – VisitDenmark, Innovation Norway, VisitFinland, VisitSweden and Icelandair will launch the second installment of their joint campaign “Faces of Scandinavia” in which famous Scandinavians are promoting their favorite local travel destinations. The purpose is to inspire U.S. travelers to visit Scandinavia. Just as last year’s successful campaign,  the “Faces of Scandinavia” campaign will promote Denmark, Finland, Norway, and Sweden as four European destinations that combined make for one exciting vacation, with Icelandair as the preferred airline.  Icelandair has convenient service to Copenhagen, Helsinki, Stockholm and Bergen, Oslo, Stavanger and Trondheim in Norway. Additionally, several prominent Scandinavians are participating in the campaign. 

The campaign website – www.facesofscandinavia.com – is the hub for information about local travel destinations in each of the countries and gives visitors the chance to win two roundtrip tickets to destination of choice, courtesy of Icelandair, to Denmark, Norway, Sweden or Finland.

The “Faces of Scandinavia”
Several prominent Scandinavians who live and/or work in the U.S. share their favorite travel destinations on the “Faces of Scandinavia” campaign website. Some of the new celebrities sharing their favorite travel stories this year will include:
Rene Redzepi, award winning Danish chef of World’s Best restaurant 2010, noma
Børge Ousland, Norwegian polar explorer
Efva Attling – popular Swedish jewelry designer
Angelika – Finnish supermodel, covergirl of multiple international fashion magazines

To enter the “Faces of Scandinavia” contest, Americans can visit www.facesofscandinavia.com.  There, they can click on the “Faces of Scandinavia” to read personal travel recommendations from well-known Scandinavians, or upload their own travel stories, or leave a comment on a travel story. Visitors are encouraged to share on Facebook or Twitter to be entered to win. The contest is open now through July 6th, 2011.

By commenting or sharing their own story, grand prize winner will receive two roundtrip economy tickets with Icelandair to chosen destination in Denmark, Finland, Norway or Sweden

Four lucky winners who upload their personal travel stories during the campaigns will also be entered to win a 16GB iPad, including the Guidepal travel application. Visitors may also enter to win t-shirts from Moods of Norway, jewelry from Efva Attling, “noma” cook book from Copenhagen’s celebrity chef Rene Redzepi, glassware from Iittala, and skincare products from Lumene Finland.
