From the middle of November, Gothenburg is transformed into a Christmas city perfect for a short break to soak up the festive atmosphere. Visitors can spend time shopping for unique gifts in the Haga district or at one of the many Christmas markets dotted around the city (including Scandinavia’s largest), before walking the Lane of Light and enjoying Christmas ‘Fika’ – a sociable coffee and something sweet.
Whether it’s food, drink or just living, the Swedish seem to hold the secret of how to do it in style. Now Londoners everywhere get the chance to ‘Try Swedish’ for themselves – with three days of master classes hosted by TV Chef Gizzi Erskine and BBC's ‘Great British Bake Off’ 2010 winner Edd Kimber.
