Restaurant boom in Stockholm

In recent years Stockholm has become one of the most interesting culinary destinations in Europe, and the restaurant scene is constantly growing. More than 20 new restaurants have opened since last summer.

Here are some of the most interesting and innovative new additions:

City/Östermalm district

Gastrologik - At Gastrologik there is no menu – you simply choose three or six courses, and let the chefs decide what you will be served, all depending on the supply of fresh and locally grown produce.
Where: Artillerigatan 14, Östermalm

Griffin Steakhouse – popular steakhouse in trendy environment.
Where: Waterfront building, Klarabergsviadukten 67,City.

Restaurang Legend – crossover kitchen with champagne bar.
Where: Drottninggatan 85, City

Restaurang Volt – gastro bistro in the posh Östermalm district.
Where: Kommendörsgatan 16.

Restaurang Hjerta – rustic restaurant in ship yard environment.
Where: Slupskjulsvägen 28B, Skeppsholmen.

Oyster Bar 
Where: Storgatan 20, Östermalm.

F12 Group opens an Asian restaurant named Miss Voon in the new Elite Eden Park Hotel in September 2011 in Östermalm district.
Where: Sturegatan 22, Östermalm.

Ekstedt is the name of Niklas Ekstedt’s new restaurant. The main focus will be Swedish produce made over open fire.
Where: Humlegårdsgatan 17, Östermalm.

Köttbaren – a meat and steak bar opened in August 2011
Where: Tegnergatan 32, City.

Old Town

Pubologi
– Not a dining room, not a pub, not a bar, but a hybrid of them all.
Where: Stora Nygatan 20.

Djuret / Svinet Svinet (The Swine) is summer outdoor Pork Barbeque restaurant open during the summer at Djuret
(The Whole Beast).
Where: Victory Hotel, Lilla Nygatan 5.

Loch & Quay – Bar and restaurant by the waterfront.
Where: Skeppsbron Tullhus 2.

Vasastan/Kungsholmen district

Svartengrens – Steakhouse in the Roslagsgatan-Odengatan district opens May 5.
Where: Tulegatan 24, Vasastan.

I cinque sensi – a new Italian on a popular restaurant and bar street in the Vasastan district. Where: Rörstrandsgatan 23, Vasastan.

AG Restaurang & Bar – Classic restaurant with a trendy-classic look.
Where: Kronobergsgatan 37, Kungsholmen.

Restaurang Jonas – international gourmet restaurant opening in November 2011.
Where: Flemminggatan 39, Kungsholmen.

Södermalm

Delikatessen Bistro Bar – A new French-Swedish bistro on bohemian Södermalm.
Where: Krukmakargatan 22, Södermalm.

Djurgården

Villa Godthem – classic Swedish with a modern twist opened in June.
Where: Rosendalsvägen 9, Djurgården.

“Oaxen Krog” (new name not revealed) moves to Nya Djurgårdsvarvet in spring 2013. www.oaxenkrog.se
