Timber rafting

Build your own timber raft using only logs and rope and go rafting down a river. It will be an exciting and unusual adventure, and an experience you and your friends will never forget!

Several activity companies based primarily in Värmland, a region of great natural beauty, offer trips from one day all the way up to one week. Depending on how long you would like to be out, you may decide to build the raft yourself with the help of an instructor – which takes between 2 and 3 hours – or rent a ready-built raft. The adventure is aimed at both individual tourists as well as groups.

Consider floating at a gentle pace down the river like Tom Sawyer in your new home: an 18 square metre large timber raft. During the journey you can go ashore and investigate different sites, like local history museums, workshops, churches and interesting scenery with waterfalls oxbow lakes, steep sandy riverbanks and much more. You also have the opportunity of seeing wild animals, such as beavers, and doing some fishing.

You might also encounter unexpected "adventures" such as sandbanks or white water. Whatever your fate you are guaranteed a number of adventure-filled days with many experiences on your timber raft expedition.

You decide your daily tempo yourself. Nights are spent in a tent on a well-moored raft or on land. Meals consist of provisions you have bought prior to setting out on the journey. At the final destination, you take the timber raft apart and return the rented equipment. As a rule, the season for raft trips is from the end of May through to the beginning of September.
