Few experiences of nature can compare to the feeling of venturing out onto mirror-like ice with sharp blades under your skate boots to explore the extensive water areas that require a boat during the summer but are now still and accessible in an exquisitely frozen state. With uncanny ease you cover astonishing distances and travel between the coast and the archipelago in a way that almost seems supernatural, to the accompaniment of the beautiful, sultry tones of the skate-blades as they cut through the ice. Many people say that the enchantment of trip skating is being able to travel at speed over great distances.Experienced skaters can cover no less than 200 kilometres a day without any difficulty, which says something about the effortless pace that characterises trip skating. The much cherished skating season begins as early as November in Sweden when lakes and watercourses usually start to freeze over.A few weeks later the ice starts to take hold out in the archipelagos. It should be pointed out that trip skating on lake or sea ice requires caution and good preparations. Always check in advance with experts as to whether the ice really is safe – particularly during the spring or autumn seasons when it is thinner.
