City cycling

You don’t have to be a Tour De France cyclist to discover the many sights and points of interest of these relatively flat and compact cities. And using your own steam to get around, you can go where you want, when you want and make stops along the way. With thousands of kilometres of cycle path, Stockholm, Gothenburg and Malmö are the perfect ‘cycling cities’ and give you the freedom to go sightsee, shop and discover them in a way you can never get by bus, car or train.

Cycle paths wend their way through the main shopping streets and sights of downtown Stockholm and over the bridges that link the various parts of the city. For example, you could check out the designer-wear boutiques of Biblioteksgatan and then cycle to the incomparable Vasa Museum and be there in 10 minutes. There are various bike rental companies in Stockholm and you can also rent a bike from Stockholm City Bikes.

Starting out from Avenyn you can see the sights of Gothenburg and take in the 17th century canals and some 20 bridges that criss-cross the city. You can ride past the Poseidon statue that rises over Götaplatsen on your way to one or more of Gothenburg’s 17 museums. Or take a rest, enjoy a café and take in the buzz of Gothenburg. There are hundreds of kilometres of cycle path in the city that take you to everything you would want to see and do here.

Malmö is a city of 164 nations and 100 languages. The people of Malmö congregate in late spring and summertime around the myriad 16th and 17th century squares to enjoy the al fresco global cuisine. And a lot of them travel by bicycle. You should too if you want to look cool like the locals and enjoy the many attractions the city has to offer.

Look cool on a bike and wear a helmet.
