Öland

Öland - Sweden’s smallest and sunniest province.

The island of Öland is just 135 km long and is connected by bridge to the city of Kalmar in eastern Småland.

Öland is perfect for real seaside holidays with pristine beaches and has a wealth of accommodation options including pretty cottages, first-rate hotels, B&Bs and camping facilities. With a 500 km coastline there is much to discover on the coast, especially if you have your own boat and there are many guest harbours. Southern Öland is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is a unique environment that has been preserved for several thousand years and is well worth visiting.

Other highlights of Öland include its famous windmills, orchids and the Butterfly Museum with 800 species of butterfly. Don’t miss the ecology centre at Skogsby and its unique bumble bee safari. The kids will love it.
