Island life on North and South Koster.

The boat from Strömstad brings you to these most westerly, populated islands of Sweden. South Koster is the larger at 8 km2 and offers gentle walks and cycling trips through its verdant countryside and along the coast. The skerries and rocky isles that form the Koster archipelago are on view from Valfjäll, while the beaches at Rörvik and Kilesand are well worth a visit. The local cuisine at the numerous cafes and restaurants should not be missed.

North Koster covers an area of just 4 km2 of tightly packed but stunning natural beauty. From the lighthouses that are now in use after lying dormant for more than a century you can enjoy views of the isles. Walk the heather-clad moors and see the fields of rubble stones that are remnants of the ice age.

Most of North and South Koster is a nature reserve and the flora and fauna is protected.
