Junibacken

Junibacken brings to life the characters and stories of Astrid Lindgren and other famous Scandinavian children’s book characters. As you enter Junibacken you find yourself in ‘Storybook Square’, where Alfie Atkins, the Moomins and many, many more lovable characters await. Kids can go wild at Villa Villekulla; run around, climb up and down, try on clothes and ride Pippi’s horse.

At Storybook World you’ll meet the characters of the famous Swedish children’s author and artist Elsa Beskow. You can wander around ‘Peter in Blueberry Land’, visit ‘Hattstugan’ and even ride on the back of a giant bat.

The Story Train from Vimmerby station, takes its passengers on a fantastic journey through Astrid Lindgren's stories and to the home of Pippi Longstocking. There is commentary in English, Finnish, German, Russian, Dutch, Italian, Mandarin and Japanese.

The little ones might work up an appetite, so why not treat them to a delicious homemade meal, biscuits and buns, sweets and ice cream at the restaurant.

Don’t miss the children’s theatre, bookshop, handicrafts and face-painting.

Junibacken is set in the beautiful island of Djurgården and is open all year round. It is a 30 min. walk from central Stockholm, or 10-minute bus, ferry or tram ride.
