Drottningholm Palace
Drottningholm Castle, where the Royal Family lives

Organisation/Company:

Kungl. Hovstaterna

Website:

Royal Court

This is one of the royal residences of King Carl Gustaf XVI and Queen Silvia of Sweden.
The interior of Drottningholm Palace has changed much since the palace and grounds were built in the 1600s and 1700s, reflecting the fashions and trends of days gone by.

The rooms in the southern wing are where the Swedish royal family lives, while the rest of the palace and grounds are open to the public year round. Of particular interest in the grounds of the palace are the park, the gardens, the Chinese Pavillion and Court Theatre which lies beside the palace. The Drottningholm Palace is inscribed on UNESCO´s World Heritage list as the best example of a royal residence built in the 18th century in Sweden and is representative of all European architecture of that period.
