River rafting at Klara River/Klarälven, Värmland

Organisation/Company:

Branäs- & Sverigeflotten

Sverigeflotten

The county of Värmland borders Norway in the west of Sweden and this ‘Huckleberry Finn’ river rafting adventure takes place on the Klara River that meanders through the untamed wilderness of this part of Sweden.

The readymade, comfortable and easy-to-handle rafts accommodate 2-5 people and there are 1, 2, 3 & 6 day trips between May to September. This relaxing and exciting experience is ideal for families, groups and individuals. Branäs & Sverigeflotten has been owned and run by the Persson family since 1980, so you know you are in good hands.

The Klara River, at 500-km long is Sweden’s mightiest and rises from a small lake in the county of Härjedalen in the north. Its journey then continues into Norway before returning to Värmland and empties into the delta of Lake Vänern, one of Europe’s largest lakes. Your river raft floats gently down the river, following its contours and leaving you with plenty of time to spot beaver and elk and with luck even wolves, bears, lynx and wolverine. Bird species that you might spot include eagles, the Ural owl, the great grey owl and the common Kestrel. A six-day trip takes you 110 km down river, with thirty-one bends going westward and thirty-two eastwards.

Needless to say, there is some great fishing on the Klara; you can fly-fish for grayling, hook a pike on a spinner and the kids can fish for perch. You can anchor your raft at a sandbank and join some of the wonderful hiking trails, go raspberry and blue berry picking, or just kick back and enjoy the peace and quiet.
