Winter and summer alike, the Swedish mountains are a blast for children. There is no end to the exciting adventures they can enjoy here; among them skiing, skating, dog-sledding and ice-fishing in winter, and hiking, trekking, cycling and canoeing in summer.

A visit to the Swedish mountains with the kids can be as wild as you want; you could combine the thrill of a dog-sledding trip across frozen winter plains with winter camping under the stars. Imagine if one your kids spotted a reindeer, a wolverine or even the ultra-rare Arctic Fox.
Away from the wilder side of the Swedish mountains are the large ski resorts. They have everything the major European ski resorts offer, but thankfully without the elbowing to get to the front of the lift queue.
Accommodation can range from the very basic, a Sami tepee (kids love it), to five-star luxury hotels, with log cabins, cottages and other types of accommodation in between.
We bet your kids can’t wait.
The King’s Trail (Kungsleden) is the legendary 425 km-long hiking, trekking and skiing trail that winds its way from Abisko in the north to Hemmavan in the south, taking in the high alpine terrain and Kebnekaise, Sweden’s highest mountain. Abisko is one of the best places in the world to see the Northern Lights.
Maybe you would like to get to know one of these furry fellows? Travelling in the company of animals provides the unique experience of being close to nature. Choose from unforgettable journeys through the mountains on horseback or behind a team of dogs or reindeer.
