Swedish hotel classification
Photo: SHR
A unified classification system for Swedish hotels was introduced at the end of 2003.
The hotels are assessed on the basis of 130 criteria, which in turn can give the hotels between one and five stars. The hotel inspections are performed once a year by inspectors from the Swedish Hotel and Restaurant Association , SHR. All classified hotels are then given a sign that is only valid if equipped with a sticker for the current year.
There are two hotel categories: -"Hotel" is used to refer to hotels with restaurant facilities serving other meals than breakfast-"Hotel Garni" refers to hotels serving only breakfast (maximum of 4 stars)
