Camping in Sweden

The best way to enjoy the outstanding natural beauty of the Swedish countryside, is to choose accommodation right in the middle of it.

Thanks to Sweden’s over 1,000 camping sites with more than 75,000 camping pitches, and its tens of thousands of cottages and cabins nothing can be easier.
Options are overwhelming and the choice is yours. What about a cottage high on a mountain in northern Sweden, or beachside somewhere along our vast coast? A camping site by a breathtakingly beautiful deep, dark lake? A cabin in a “cabin village”, close to the action of, for instance, the medieval town of Visby or all alone in the deep forest of Småland with the nearest neighbour a mile or two away?

To stay at the Swedish camping site, you will sometimes need a membership card. The most widely accepted card is the Camping Card Scandinavia. The card is free, but you need a validity sticker for the current year (SEK 140 for 2011). You can buy the card online at camping.se or at the first campsite you get to in Scandinavia. The card enables quicker check in and check out. A number of special offers are also associated with the card, for example discounts on ferries to and from Sweden.

Many Swedish Camping sites also accept Camping Card International, CCI.

Several camping sites are open all year round. There is accommodation ranging from the simple cabin to the fully equipped self-catering cottage, and some camping sites also offer accommodation at youth hostels.

Come and explore the great variety of camping and cottages sites in Sweden.
