The Malmö Art Museum houses a comprehensive collection of Nordic art encompassing paintings, sculptures, furniture, decorative and applied arts, drawings and prints. It is located in the heart of Malmö and was founded in 1841. It shares Malmöhus, a 15th century castle, with several of Malmö’s other museums.

It is located in the heart of Malmö and was founded in 1841. It shares Malmöhus, a 15th century castle, with several of Malmö’s other museums.
The museum collects contemporary Nordic art, as well as works from the 1500s to present day. The large contemporary collection features works by several of the big-name Scandinavian artists from the 1980s and 1990s, including; Dan Wolgers, Annika von Hausswolff, Ann Lislegaard, Elmgreen & Dragset and Nina Roos. Turning the clock back, you can also see works by Carl Larsson, Anders Zorn, Carl Fredrik Hill, Per Krohg and Alexender Roslin.
True to its geographic roots, the museum also has an extensive collection of furniture and handicraft, primarily from southern Sweden.
