Ájtte is the main museum for Sámi culture. It also specializes in mountain nature and culture as well as being an information centre for visitors to the Swedish mountains and Sápmi. It is what Sápmi Experience is all about - a bridge between old and new traditions. Ájtte and its staff are deeply rooted in Sápmi. The museum is probably the most visited Sámi owned cultural institution and therefore important as a representative of the Sami culture. Ájtte also serves as a source for Sámi students that participate in educational tours arranged by the museum staff.
