This is the land of the Sami, the indigenous people of this area. Kebnekaise is Sweden’s highest mountain at 2,111 metres, or 6,926 feet. Standing atop the majestic south peak of the mountain you get staggering views of the mountains and valleys of this alpine landscape. Kebnekaise Mountain Station lies 690 metres (2,264 feet) above sea level at the foot of the mountain and has 198 beds in the main building and the five annexes. The station also has a restaurant serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and à la carte menus, as well as a common room, shower, sauna and drying room. From the mountain station you can take guided walks to Sweden’s highest peaks, or try ice climbing, glacier tours, ski mountaineering and courses in winter activities.
