The gay and lesbian scene in Stockholm is like the city itself: warm, open-minded and welcoming, easily accessible and fun. The Pride festival, held every year in July, is the highlight of the year in the gay calendar and although there is no centre of gay life in Stockholm there are many gay and gay-friendly clubs, bars, restaurants and other establishments to enjoy.

Stockholm’s breathtakingly beautiful gives it a massive natural advantage over most capital cities. It is built on 14 islands, in the unpolluted waters of Mälaren and the locals like nothing more than swimming, fishing, boating and lazing away summer days in the parks and waterways of the city. At Slussen on Södermalm, and Nybrokajen in Östermalm, Stockholm opens out to the Baltic Sea and the Stockholm archipelago with its thousands of beautiful islands.
