Southern Sweden is both a convenient and an exciting destination if you´re travelling with the whole family. Distances are short, with lots to see and enjoy within easy reach. Wherever you go in southern Sweden, you have a wide choice of accommodation, from large family-friendly hotels offering full services and various attractions, to simple, moderately priced B&B’s, hostels and campgrounds.

Southern Sweden offers are a large number of major sights and attractions for the whole family. In Vimmerby in Småland, the hometown of Sweden´s beloved national icon Astrid Lindgren, the world famous author of children’s books, is the Astrid Lindgren World – a large, fairy-tale village where you can visit Pippi Longstocking, Emil, Madicken and all the other cherished characters, live in their natural environments.

The large Kolmården animal park near Norrköping in the Östergötland region is one of Sweden´s most popular venues for families travelling with children. Here you can come eye to eye with wild animals, just like on an African safari. Perhaps the most famous feature in Kolmården is the dolphin aquarium, with spectacular shows scheduled throughout the year.
 
Visby on the island of Gotland, with the adjacent Kneipbyn holiday park, and Tylösand in Halland, are just two of the major beachfront resorts offering broad and diverse ranges of activities, events and entertainment for all ages during the summer season. Borås Zoo in Västergötland, with over 500 animals of 80 species, and the ”Nordic Ark” in Hunnebostrand on the west coast, with large number of endangered species from all around the world, are two of several popular animal parks in southern Sweden which are also multi-experience theme parks. Among the most popular family destinations are also several spectacular adventure pools, outdoor as well as indoor, all around the region.
