Eketorp fort is a rebuilt pre-historic ringfort from the Iron Age and the Middle Ages. At the excavations, the archaeologists found that the fort had gone through three phases: during the Iron Age as a place of refuge and a fortified village and during the Middel Ages as a garrison.
The fort is to a great extent rebuilt with a ring wall and houses. As a visitor, you experience the Iron Age some days, and the Middle Ages other days. You can take part in some ancient crafts and work such as food preparation, bronze casting, iron forging, textile crafts or training in the use of arms.
Everyone working in the fort has clothes true to these periods and connected to the guided tours during the high season, small scenes of possible episodes in the history of the fort are presented.
The museum of the fort displays some of the finest of the 25.000 artefacts found in the excavations. There is also a creative corner for the whole family. Eketorp has the highest rating in the Guide Rouge!
