Stockholm with children

Stockholm is well geared up for children and parents.

Step inside the Vasa Museum and the body of a massive 17th century ship towers above you - amazing! See the fascinating video that explains how the ship was recoverd from the depths of Stockholm's harbor. Then wander through exhibits that let you imagine what life aboard the Vasa would have been like.

At the Aquaria Water Museum, you can spend the day in an Amazon rainforest, see the creatures that live beneath Nordic waters and tropical seas - even come face-to-face with a shark!

Skansen open-air museum in Stockholm includes 150 historic buildings - houses, farms, manors and churches - where you can see people working at old-time crafts and chores. See wild and domestic animals, visit the aquarium and the always entertaining House of Monkeys.

Junibacken amusement park brings children's storybooks to life. You will find Sweden's own Pippi Longstocking here, of course, along with elves, trolls and all sorts of fantastic characters. Board the Story Train for a fantasy trip little ones will love.

At Kolmården Animal Park, 90 minutes south of Stockholm, take a drive through the Safari Park, where your windshield may be all that separates you from lions! Visit the elephants, feed a baby goat at the Petting Zoo, watch the antics in the Monkey House or see dolphins at play.
